FAQ
Do you have questions? If you don't find the answer you are looking for, email or call the church office for more information.
What time is your worship service?
Our service is at 10AM on Sunday mornings. We enjoy a time of worship followed by a time of Fellowship . Everyone is invited to have a cup of coffee or juice and get to know each other.
What can I expect when I come on a Sunday morning?
We strive to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere at Maranatha. You'll be greeted by someone in the main foyer who will be happy to direct you to the nursery, coat racks, washrooms, and worship service. One of our friendly ushers is available to answer any of your questions - you'll find them greeting you as you enter the sanctuary.
Our service is a blend of contemporary and traditional worship songs. During the service we take time to share the congregation's joys and concerns through prayer, read the Bible and talk about it through the sermon, collect an offering for a specified weekly cause (visitors are under no obligation to contribute), and take communion approximately 6 times a year.
Do I have to dress up to attend your worship service?
No. You are welcome to wear your "Sunday best" but you are welcome as you are.
Is Maranatha accessible?
Yes, the accessibility entrance and parking are located in the main parking lot on the south side of the church.
We have hearing enhancement devices as well as large print for the songs we sing.
Is there childcare during worship services?
We welcome families to our services. We provide nursery care for children ages 0-3 and children in JK to Grade 3 are invited to attend Sunday School during the worship service.
Who goes to your church?
Our congregation spans all ages. You'll find just about every demographic here - married, single, divorced, widowed, workers, retired, life-long Bowmanville residents, and those who have just recently moved to the area. But even more important than the kind of people is the kind of people who are welcome - everyone!
Will I have to say or sign anything or be singled out in any way?
No! Our aim is to create a non-threatening environment where everyone can come and find out more about God. If you are interested in having us connect with you after your visit, there are welcome cards you are welcome to fill out.
Can a visitor take communion (Lord's Supper)?
Yes, we take communion as a reminder of God's gift to us in Jesus Christ. We believe in open communion which means that anyone who believes in Jesus Christ is welcome to take communion, whether they are a member of Maranatha or not.
